Wow. December is already over, how did that happen.
Which also means the end of Vlogmas, which seems to have flown by. At the same time, I have reached a rhythm of film, edit, post everyday that it is going to feel weirdly unnatural to not be doing it every day in the new year. I can definitely say I've learned a lot this past month. I've managed to create a work flow that makes sense to me, I've reintroduced myself to Premiere Pro, I've discovered lighting tips and tricks. I've found my voice in front of a camera again, I know I don't need the fanciest equipment to make a good video that people will enjoy, I have learned and laughed so much with my friends in this adventure.
From concerning Santa letters, Child-made Recipe Baking, P4A excitement, disasterous holiday spirits, traumatic toy adventures and so much more - Vlogmas really was an adventure of memories. Looking back on the videos from the month, each one carries something special within it. Something I'm proud of, something I would probably fix or change. I'm going to highlight two here that I found stood out by breaking my comfort levels:
Vlogmas Day 8: Stars
This one I like to call my quiet gem from the month. Usually I'm talkative and energetic in my vlogging style, so this was a break in the mold. Despite only having my small Lumix point-and-shoot camera to work with, I had fun coming up with different interesting angles in shooting one object. Where I see problems are within the transitions and that, my friends, is where the lesson of Always Render Your Work comes in to play. After uploading I realized I hadn't rendered my last transitions before export. Live and Learn as they say.
Vlogmas Day 23: Past, Present, & Future You
Oh my, this one took planning. But I'm so incredibly happy with the result. Not only was this a deeply emotional and personal video to write and present, but technically it offered many challenges. I'm glad I pushed through any doubts and just went for it. Sure it's not perfect but I think of all my Vlogmas videos this one taught me the most.
The rest of my Vlogmas videos were much more conversational and light hearted. If you don't mind seeing me be a goof, you can check out the rest on my Youtube channel.
